Microsoft's Gates Says Value of Tech Stocks Is Justified: Times

London, Oct. 13 (Bloomberg) -- Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates said there is some justification in the high valuations of Internet stocks, the Times of London reported, citing Gates at a conference of 300 business leaders in London. Gates admitted that technology stocks could be considered overvalued but added there were plausible reasons for investor enthusiasm in the sector. Gates said investment banks and venture capitalists are banking on the future profits of some Internet companies as more consumers embrace electronic commerce, the newspaper said.

Microsoft Corp. said it invested about $10 million in InfoImage Inc., a maker of software for corporate Web sites, to speed ''digital dashboard'' technology that organizes computer data.
