>Thanks for the article. The wife and daughter have made good use of the web site already.< you're very welcome. i've been thinking of ordering my fianc‚e a pair of those black leather pants meself. i wonder if i can them with a zipper in the back? d'oh! that's pro'ly inappropriate for a kid's board. got an opinion on that new depeche mode commercial? i must say that i dig it, cuz you know, i've been sporting that too trendy, short messy chopped look for about a year now and finally feel regular. ad also makes me wonder if anyone gets that that '80s band name translates to "fast fashion?">Looks like your concerns were right on target back in July. What do you think - come down enough to be attractive yet? thanks, but i never pulled the trigger; too busy getting overweighted in techs. for the record, i market time about as well as i play golf, which is to say i play like john daly: five iron in one hand, stiff drink in the other. that said, this price may be nearing swinging range given the previous rebound off of $31 and the fact that we're cruising into mall mania season. as you know, on the order of 35-37% of Gap's sales are made during the 10- to 13-week period of back-to-school and holidays. fwiw, i pitched Gap to my stock club a week and a half ago. think i got some takers, but i'll let you know if they bite next month (earnings nov 11). cheers, -chris. re: ANF. man, speaking of the eighties, i used to really like that place back when they had all that outdoor gear and survival knick-knacks. have yet to return. -----Banana Republic opens doors of online store By Troy Wolverton Staff Writer, CNET News.com October 14, 1999, 10:25 a.m. PT Apparel retailer Banana Republic has launched its online store, revving up parent company Gap Incorporated's e-commerce strategy in time for the holiday season. Banana Republic's online store includes men's and women's fashion areas, as well as household items such as sheets, towels, and glassware. The site also includes an area that helps customers find gifts and buy gift certificates. Company representatives were not available for comment. Banana Republic launched a placeholder site last month and announced the official launch date for their Web store. Sister retailer Gap has been selling online for about two years, and parent company Gap Incorporated launched online stores for its Baby Gap and Gap Kids chains last year. Old Navy, another Gap Incorporated-owned chain, launched a temporary site last month about the same time Banana Republic appeared online. Since then, the site has been updated to sell gift certificates and offer product and store information, but it does not yet include a full e-commerce store. An Old Navy representative declined to say whether the company would launch its online store before Christmas. Banana Republic's online debut comes just days after rival The Limited acknowledged that many of its chains, including The Limited and Express, would not be online in time for the holiday season.news.cnet.com
