Yes, it's an art, not a science. I don't normally care for oscillators but since VIX is aspiring to measure sentiment and not price momentum, I like to at least be aware of where it stands.

Meanwhile, the "Long Waves" forum mentioned earlier has been feasting on this decline. Of special note are current theories that Earth's poles are about to switch, icebergs are melting and another five planet "lining up" event due next May that will certainly bring about Armageddon. But the most outrageous commentary I've read...or maybe I heard it somewhere this weekend, was that someone was "tired" of the Braves. I guess that tops them all. What, that leaves a NY or Boston team to root for? Give me a break. Subway series? No wonder the market is tanking. It would be the end of civilization as we know it.
