I can't answer that, since I do not know. I'll ask around to ascertain the answer. Stocks can trade significantly lower than 1 cent per share. I've seen stock quoted as fractions of a penny. i.e. 1/256th.

At these levels though, what's the point. Recent IRS changes (for shorts) mandate recognizing a profit when the stock trades at negliable levels. You should check the IRS site for the exact wording.
