I have not looked at GE. But if what you say is true my advice is very simple. Don't invest in any Company that counts income from another and separate legal entity as its own. If you don't know don't invest. And if you don't know the difference between alternative methods of earnings reports, and misstatements and companies with good management don't try to advise others who do.

Its very dangerous and misleading and it naturally tends to piss them off when they discover the truth.
