bigger commissions

I'll give you one guess :-)
seriously... yes, and you have to negotiate it w/ the broker you choose. typicall 'full brokerage' stuff. but it's not out of line and you will easily make it back in smoother and better executions... unless you like the thrill of legging (when I do, I've done well legging on strong up or down swings... which is why you need naked options approval).

auto executions

i did notice for the 1st time today, w/ the activity in AAPL this morning at the open, it seemed as if the option exchanges turned off their auto ex systems (RAES, AMOS, etc.) Even when I submitted (in the subordinate sense) to a mkt order, it took a lot of quote gyrations before I was filled (at 1/16 less than was expecting, arrrrggghhhh).
And then minutes later, I did some more option trades and everything was back to lightening quick. I was surprised...

Does anyone know if the option exchanges do indeed turn off their 'autoex' systems during fast mkt conditions (this is for auto ex of 10 contracts or less)?
(I noticed this 'slowness' on PHLX and AMEX)
