But in no way do I think that PC133 will ever outperform Rambus, despite the tired old claims of "lower latency."

Well, PC100 outperforms 600/700Mhz Rambus on Win98 business benchmarks.

Micron is shipping a VIA-based system with VC SDRAM. Would be interesting to see the benchmarks on that.

Tenchu, Party line? From what others have said the Athlon bus with the 133 will outperform the rambus current offering. Athlon having a superior internal bus structure that works and more than offsets the rambus theoretical advantage.

Tencusatsu,

<But in no way do I think that PC133 will ever outperform Rambus, despite the tired old claims of "lower latency>

Don't you think we have plenty of data to indicate that the answer is application dependent? Especially since we haven't seen many PC133 chipsets or CL2 yet, "no way" is strong phrase.

if you are using the new AGP4x Nvidia GeForce256 card

"the Via Apollo Pro 133, performs
about on-par with the PC100 440BX"

is no longer true.

that new GPU really
benefits from the
PC133 that only
Via can provide.

anyone with the MAX600B from
Micron can tell you this.

Re: PC133 will ever outperform Rambus...

But DDR266, at 1/2 to to 2/3 the cost of rambus and outperforming it will turn rambus into a curiosity for trivia games - remember the VESA bus?
