dmp: If one is interested in trading for profit, I recommend Cramer's approach.

"such will sometimes blind one to the fact that strong stocks in strong groups outperform (see in this connection William O'Neil)."

True, but nothing in O'Neil's work would have you buying any of the stocks you mention (let alone any stocks) at this time. It is dangerous, IMHO, to selectively rely upon comments from O'Neil's work if you don't fully understand it and follow it as a whole.

Presently, price and volume signals, leadership behavior, sentiment indicators, etc. in his "How to Make Money In Stocks" would have you in cash waiting for clear bottoming signals.

Good luck dipping, but it ain't O'Neil.

Jeff

Since you mentioned O'Neill, today will mark confirmation of an intermediate term low in the indices (provided price remains 1% from yesterday's close and volume is higher than yesterday).

A 1% on volume move within a 3-10 day window off a recent low is about an 80% reliable signal. Failure occurs upon taking out the low from which the follow through day was counted.

In this case, we use Monday's low. Today is day 4, and price appears as if it will hold and volume will be sufficient.
