Thursday October 14, 12:57 AM Votes Vanish from Time.com's Phony and Fraud Poll Something strange happened to Time.com's "Phonies and Frauds of the Century" poll on the way to the millenium. Thousands of votes seem to have vanished from former phony and fraud favorite Geraldo Rivera's column. As Inside Cover reported on Sept. 27, Time.com showed Rivera leading his nearest competitor by a margin of 5 to 1. In fact, with 53,000 votes the CNBC talkmeister was outpolling Linda Tripp, Ken Starr, Dr. Laura Schlessinger and Rush Limbaugh combined. But as of Wednesday night, not only had Rivera's lead been surrendered to a fictional J.R. "Bob" Dobbs, but nearly two-thirds of Geraldo's votes had disappeared altogether. Rivera's cumulative total now stands at just 17,966. The list was selected by Time.com and excluded any political figures. The new numbers for others on the list haven't moved significantly. But Geraldo's downwardly revised tally leaves him with a substantially lower percentage of the total vote count, making it appear that Tripp, Limbaugh, Starr and Schlessinger are gaining fast. Here's a question for Time.com's next survey: Is this how President Clinton managed to win those marvelously high job approval ratings throughout his impeachment?
