Do you think that another vendor we are unaware of (or even those we are aware of) which might have, or be ready to trial, a new product might have a shot? Not a chance worth considering. GTE has already announced they will be using 3Com's equipment in their CDMA data service to be launched this fall. Do you actually think GTE would hold back the release of their CDMA data network while some other manufacturer tested equipment designed to do the same thing? Sprint already has 3Coms IWF equipment widely deployed and people are very impressed with the way it works. Wireless carriers want to reduce uncertainty, not introduce new uncertainty at the last possible moment. Bux
