Rashid reports plot to kill COAS and passengers

14 (20:43 PST): Director General, ISPR, Brig. Rashid Qureshi said here today that an attempt was made to arrest the COAS, failing which 'they' planned to destroy the PIA aircraft carrying General Pervez Musharraf from Colombo to
Karachi on Tuesday evening. He said the plane was rapidly running low on fuel and it could only fly for another
seven minutes when it finally landed at Karachi Airport. The PIA flight was also carrying Gen. Musharraf's wife
besides another 238 passengers, including 20 children. (APP)

SPECIAL INTERVIEW: Perceptions of a 'pro-army' think-tank Circles close to the GHQ comprising of intellectuals, ex-military officers, former civil servants and "pro-army " politicians, have began to coalesce into informal think tanks to debate policy options open to the military and the establishment in the post-Nawaz scenario.

A spokesperson from one of the more important of these think tanks in Islamabad, who did not wish to be identified and who is sympathetic to the recent move to oust Nawaz Sharif, was interviewed earlier today. Click here for excerpts of the interview.

Akhand Bharat is what the West wants!:-) :-) Western knowledge of South Asian matters is quite amusing, as this news report in USA Today shows!

A snippet from this report:

"...While Sharif remained under house arrest Wednesday, Musharraf met with President K.R. Narayanan and a range of politicians. "

Talk of Akhand Bharat!!!

It would have been more fruitful if he had met with his ally, Sonia Gandhi, instead! She is the only one in India who thought India lost the Kargil battle.
