Excluding goodwill from the headline EPS numbers is more than a tiny bit funny. It's not like they broke out acquisition-derived revenue from the headline sales number; this was clearly a PR exercise.

They really missed by four cents, not two cents per wire (or zero by Intel thread), if you include the goodwill. The goodwill is from 'old' acquisitions, and should be in every analyst's model.

Don, I think it has more to do with a change from their previous policy of reporting earnings related to acquisitions. The SEC has been eyeballing the scammy practice for a couple of years and Intel was never the problem in this regard before. But I suspect eps weren't so crappy for so long before.
