I agree 100% with your post here. One of the reasons that IBM can not cut down their GSD backlog is they can not hire enough people. They need more than 30,000 additional service people right now and that is more than the graduates of every CS program in the country for a year.

I believe that DELL is making lemonade here and it's likely to be pretty good Lemonade at that. Remember the original discussion - Kemble was waxing eloquent on the service revenue that DELL would be getting based on their growth, and I was questioning that assumption, since they won't be in the service business themselves. Your post has many of the reasons why I felt that way, but Michael Dell himself was the one who laid out the plan.
