I agree with you. It is rare. I have taught my children to always say thank you to waiters, bussboys etc- although it does get a little overwhelming as all five of us say thank you as the waters get passed out. And we eat Chinese food a lot- lots of dishes be brought and taken away and my kids always say thank you for both operations- so I sometimes wonder if we've gone overboard. I'd hate for anyone to think we were deviantly polite (I don't know how to spell deviant and I am too lazy to look it up).
