I remember so many examples just like these (intEL's purchases) down through the years. All that the 'zilla brings to the table is cash. They think that they buy the future but the $ goes almost inevitably down the toilet. They impose their large company mentality and "culture" on the small well and aggressively managed company and the assets (brains) flee to other pastures. The most notable example that I know of was Exxon Enterprises during the seventies. That was when oil companies made sooooo much money that they literally did not know what to do with it. (GOD FORFEND THAT THEY SHOULD EVEN CONSIDER GIVING IT AWAY TO THE STOCKHOLDERS; WHAT A WASTE THAT WOULD BE.) Exxon blew away billions of dollars in a learning exercise. It is good to see intEL following in the tradition of other such great companies.

DARBES

Petz - Re: "Oh, I forgot to mention, Intel has only $3.42 per share of cash plus short term investments. AMD has $2.56 per share. "

Nice numbers game !!!!

Who do you think you're fooling - the other AMDroids ?

Intel has 3,500,000,000 SHARES - making about $12,000,000,000 in cash/investments !

AMD has only 145,000,000 shares - making only $371,000,000 !!!!

Duh !!!!

That's a factor of 35 in Intel's favor.

By the way - didn't AMD have $600,000,000 cash just a few months ago ?

Where did all that money go ?

Gas for Jerry's Limo ?
