One other thought on the port of HotMail: why are they even porting it? The only way they're going to get that done is to use the OpenNT stuff that they purchased with the acquisition of Softway Systems, and do a UNIX-compatiblity mode build. This means that the HotMail code will remain Unix-like, but will thunk through the OpenNT DLL's, and performance will be terrible. Not to mention the press: Microsoft adopts UNIX as programming paradigm for large-scale mail systems. I think it is this embarrassment that will drive them to translate the source-code for HotMail into VisualC++, and they'll never finish that job.

But then, by the time it gets released, however, performance won't be a problem <g>
