Here is a wonderful post written by Gary Reed, on the CNBC Critique thread. I asked his permission to post it here, and he said that he would be honored. So here it is. I hope you cheer as much as I did when I read it..... To: Thomas M. who wrote (3809) From: Gary M. Reed Thursday, Oct 14 1999 4:45PM ET Reply # of 3815 Thomas, Not to split hairs with you, but it was a Republican-controlled Congress (the first in 40 years) who reduced the budget deficit. Reagan spent half his term undoing the economic abyss that Jimmy Carter threw us into. Yes, the budget was imbalanced during Reagan's terms, but you could hardly argue with the results. The budget imbalance was primarily due to: 1.) initial revenue short falls due to tax cuts, which ultimately produced higher government revenue (you know, the budget "surplus" that Clinton somehow feels qualified to take credit for???) 2.) higher military spending to upgrade the tools our troops have to work with. This is the strangest thing...Clinton seems more than happy to employ the military and it's Reagan-enabled tools to secure his (Clinton's) dream of a New World Order(re: Kosovo, selling nuclear secrets to China, as well as his resultless pursuit of this Bin-Laden character, which has killed many civilians, yet achieved zero results...Jimmy Carter all over again), yet Clinton is adamant in his opposition to fund advancement of the military--the very tool he uses in his Don Quixote pursuit of a Nobel Peace Prize. Clinton's military policy has been "let's advance everyone else's military and neglect our own...indeed, a Liberal's New World Order...everyone equal, even the nutcases in Pakistan, China and Iraq.") Clinton could save face when he finally comes to peace with the fact that the "accomplishments" during his eight-year reign of horror will be (properly) remembered as: 1.) his wife's bulldog attempt at health care reform, which ultimately led to the fleeing of doctors out of the system, as well as a runaway-cost HMO system. (But hey, in a few months, tort attorneys will have open season on HMOs, so Bill ultimately got his way on that one, huh?!!) 2.) his coattail ride on Reaganomics. Reaganomics, the very thing his party badmouthed all through the 1980s (remember???). Yet, during his embrace of Reaganomics throughout his 8 year reign, the only good thing that happened for poor people (the Democrats' earth and soul) was that a Republican-controlled congress forced his hand into reforming welfare, which will, in 20 years, turn out to be the downfall of the Democratic Party, as it "weans" poor people off of the government's "tit," and encourages them to forge their own destiny--which has always been the Republican mantra (less government, more entrepreneurship). 3.) His definition of sex, as well as who he "defined" it with. Need I say more?
