Harold S.,

The Old Farmers ALmanac is also calling for a balmy to normal winter in the east. They got the bad Eastern winter right a few years ago, but otherwise their average makes them a contrarian indicator for weather forecasts.

I going to wait a couple weeks for the cpc to update the La Nina forecast before I despair over the temperature forecasts.

I saw a wooly bear today but SMASHED the poor little fellow with the truck before I could note his color accurately.

So much for scientific method.

Harold S. - As I read your posted charts, the top is temperature and the bottom is precipitation. The legend NDJ I believe is Nov, Dec, Jan. Most of the top chart shows "CL" or basically can't predict - i.e. a "normal" winter. The top US shows slightly below normal and the bottom US shows slightly above normal temperatures. Given that, I believe that we should expect a colder winter than last year - a normal winter. Here's hoping.
