Hi JC - What Twister does not understand is that SUNW has begun to enter the personal home appliance market with it's set-top boxes. Not only does SUNW receive a royalty from each box sold for the Java Operating System, they supply the SPARC Microprocessor in each of these boxes. They will be supplying millions of these boxes to Time Warner with the first 250K units being shipped this quarter. Remember SUNW has 56% margins on those processors sold and the JAVA royalty is gravy! What Mc Nealy is doing is brilliant. Each set-top box is a mini home server hooked directly to the Internet 24/7 through the cable system! These boxes have USB ports that have been designed to operate JINI devises through a universal USB HUB devise. Now with SUNW partners, several Home "INTERNET Ready" devises are now being designed and manufactured that will plug into these set-top boxes (ie mini servers). Sunw receives a JINI royalty from each "Internet Ready" devise and of course sells the high end servers that process and control these "Internet Ready" appliances. SUNW is all over this space but to my surprise no mention from any of those brilliant financial analysts. This business is just emerging and will begin to contribute to SUNW's revenues late next year. Only until next year will the analysts understand what is being built. Also note that each of these set-top boxes will have a security type card reader integrated into the machine. Debit cash cards can be loaded with money, E-commerce transactions can be accomplished securely with one swipe of a credit or bank card. ===================================================================== Sun Microsystems Inc (SUNW) (http://www.infobeat.com/stories/cgi/story.cgi?id=2561633112-a9f) After market close, SUN MICROSYSTEMS INC reported 1Q earnings that were better than Wall Street expected, as it gained share in many of its markets.
