John,

The v chip thing to me is kinda like designer anything. Change the one molecule of a compound and it is no longer an illegal substance. I can't imagine that Sony, Phillips or any of the big mfg's have not already figured that one out. LOL My understanding of the FCC mandate is that the TV must be able to read the rating code and block out certain pre set (by the parent supposedly) ratings. Most of the 14 patents we discovered do exactly that. No where do I find any technical perameters as to how the chip is built.

Ken

Scouser, while you are talking to the "inventor", ask him what happened when he went to ACRI to ask them for a deal!!!

Scouser, Perhaps you should call the v-chip inventor. His name is Carl Elam. You can reach him via Soundview Technologies. Excuse my arrogance, but you simply do not understand how this will shake out. Mr. Collings is incorrect.

If you want the technical standards, contact CEMA. i've been through this ad nauseum for years.
