Remember SUNW got 1/2 of the orders and MicroSoft got the other 1/2.

Eric- Can you reference that? I don't think that's true. I think it was left pretty vague, as I recall.

It APPEARS at this point that WinCE is not the player in this space in which it was once given such weight. It's fat, and like NT Server, coming from a "desktop" design. Even M$ has changed their marketing words to targeting niche within niche.

Philips has dropped WinCE. Right now, HP is carrying the brand (HA!). M$ has made rumblings that they're going to do their own damn WinCE device (can't wait). The great thing about WinCE devices is that anything thick enough for WinCE is think enough for Linux.

A big deal was made about Telephone (T) and M$/WinCE. It;s a joke. AT&T is standards driven. They gave M$ 3 WinCE "showcase markets", one of which is Detroit (hello?).

I think WinCE is going to end up being re-branded just like everything else.

here's where I take issue. What is the "royalty" for personal java that sun.com will get from sa? also, as I understand it, sun does not "sell" microsparc II processors. They design them and then license LSI or someone to manufacture it and sell it. They get a "royalty" from each MS II sold. The MS II is equivelant to an Intel Celeron. Intel gets $50 to $80 a piece for a Celeron. If LSI gets $50 for it's MS II, then Sun.COM, MUST get something much less than this.

So, I still don't see the BIG numbers that you do with these economics. Are these the economics as you understand them?

PS: Personal Java is layered on top of the OS that controls the unit. Personal Java does not, as i understand it, CONTROL the unit. Again, how much do you get paid for THAT?
