Perhaps it is true that Fidelity, in an effort to rid
itself of many semi capex small cap names, dumped
UTEK for a tax loss by closing out their UTEK firesale
with several hundred thousand shares around $12.50
thereby providing the stock with a successful test of
its prior low and cleaning out the available supply.
Perhaps it is also true that the Saturn Spectrum Three
bump processing tool for back end assembly is about to
take off on a growth track that could produce sales of
200 to 300 machines at $1,400,000 per pop. Perhaps it is
also true that UTEK's base business is picking up nicely
as the semi cycle begins a major up phase. Perhaps it is
also true UTEK has the potential to earn much more than
current Year 2000 consensus estimates with excellent
follow on potential the following year.
If these things were true, it would be easy to understand
why UTEK has tacked on 30% in price since bottoming on
October 4. And of course, any remaining shorts have been
hung by their toenails over the past few days. The shorts
must be pulling their hair out, as UTEK's October surge
has been accompanied by declining overall stock prices.
UTEK should provide some information on company
fundamentals during their October 21 conference call.
Should the company achieve breakeven for the September
quarter and post a profit in the December quarter,
many of the naysayers may decide to take a hike.

I2: I can't improve much on don's take and we thank him for it. All I add is that after two weeks of huge volume which suggests the move of the stock from weak hands to strong hands, volume dried up a bit yesterday which suggests UTEK may be overbought. Also, once a small cap semi equip is positioned to make a profit and has any chance of giving sequential growth on the top and bottom line, it is immediately vaulted to prime time status in the group.

Moreover, this game has been played so often in this sector and makes for great trades if one is not sleeping at the switch. They were dumping KLIC at the end of August and brought right back to $19 support at which point Justa jumped in and took it right back to $27 in short order. Today, I see the same thing going on in PLAB and perhaps WFR as well.
