I have my accounts with Waterhouse Securities. I called this AM and requested a sell order Good Until Cancel, All or Nothing at $50. The guy on the phone disappeared for 3 minutes and came back and said that they could take the order, but it was unlikely the MM would hold onto it because it was so far from the current market. So I said do it at $40, and he disappeared for 4 minutes and returned and said as follows: No, only at about 20% above the current price. (What's that, about $1 41/64?) (Recognize I was not going to press the issue at this point, still searching for answers). So I said OK, here is what I am trying to accomplish: I do not want to have my shares available for borrowing by someone who is shorting the stock. Tell me how to do that and we'll be all set. He disappeared for 5 minutes and came back to repeat what someone else had told him: You can't short a stock when it's price is less than $5., so whatever you do, no one can short the stock. I thanked him for his astute comments and terminated the call. Helpful suggestions solicited.
