He's just been to one too many internut analyst/underwriter conferences. After a few of those, most people would be able to lie to their own grandmothers without a second thought.

Hi GST,

Leaving aside the put/call ratio, I'm not sure you can say there's no fear out there. Panic selling in TYC, folks fleeing Raytheon, Xerox, and Unisys at any price--there are plenty of jitters. Right now it's still fear of losing bonuses, rather than fear of losing a way of life, but we're getting there.

Part of the complacency you are sensing may just be the calm produced by healthy cash balances. (I bought a little EXTR when it retraced half its intraday move, but I still have enough cash to let me sleep well.) I'm seeing some tempting shorts out there but I'm not willing to play them in this environment.

GST, I didn't edit it. High put/call ratios mean plenty.
