That's a very good point. I'm curious to find out how the trading curbs that are implemented by the NYSE on 200 (approx.) point swings will come into play.

Those curbs weren't around in the '87 fiasco, so without the program selling, how can the decline escalate to extreme points?

Computers do a lot of trading but its people like Greenspam that make the real decisions that determine where the markets are going. The irrationality of those decisions makes it even more difficult for a sane person to function in this market. I've been a bear since 1994 and have only broken even the whole time. The whole thing is a piece of shit and computers are the only right "people" who can work in this stench.
