Theirs is actually a proprietary item called the "Memory Stick".

Although Sony's Memory Stick is proprietary, Toshiba makes the flash "innards" for Sony, and Toshiba pays SNDK a royalty on each unit. Consequently, although SNDK won't make as much on each Memory Stick as they would on a SNDK CF or MMC card, they do make money.
