CHANTILLY, Va. (AP)--Internet retailer Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) has leased space
in the Virginia suburbs of Washington for a new data center that the company
plans to open early next year.

The Seattle-based company that sells books, music and other items online said
Thursday that the center in western Fairfax County near Dulles International
Airport will provide it with better access to the region's high-technology
community.

The $60 million center is expected to employ 25 workers.

Last month, computer chip maker Intel Corp. (INTC) announced it would open a
similar facility in the Chantilly area. Intel plans to use its data center to
host the Web sites of other companies.
