We have set resistance at this DOW 10,140 area down -145 then the sell programs kick in again.

Labor said that excluding price hikes for cigarettes, which rose 9.5 percent, and for cars which rose 2.0 percent, the core PPI rose by just 0.1 percent in September.

The rise in car prices was the largest since a 3.0 percent gain in September 1990. Nevertheless car prices remain 0.5 percent below where they were in September of last year.

``The most important number is the core ex-tobacco, which actually came in pretty reasonably,' he said. ``If you strip out food and energy and you strip out tobacco you get a pretty sedate number,' said Phil Hill, an economist at Briefing.com.
