Well looks like we have another "buying opportunity". More bad news from Lucent. Sources tell me that there have been layoffs in the Business Equipment area where growth was stagnant or even going down.
There has been extreme pricing pressure on the 5ESS switch so count out any upside surprise. Lucent is having a tough time bringing inventories down and from the looks of it the word is out and we are looking at the mid 50's. On top of that looks like their announcements in the Geneva Expo were met with yawns so unlike NT no MoMo from PR stuff.
The Bears have done a good jobs digging their claws in with the 10% revenue growth and balance sheet problems. Looks like we are looking at a 6 month more dead LU.

For the THREAD -

Based on the last 30+ comments I just read, it appears that everyone around thinks that LUCENT was the only stock that dropped today. In my humble opinion (IMHO) I would say that anybody trying to predict where any stock will go in an emotional market like this could only be considered lucky if his predictions headed in the right direction. I would say that saying a stock will go down on Monday, based on the trend for the week just completed, well, I would say that you would probably be correct more times than you would be incorrect. Now that is making a prediction.

If anybody knew anything around here then they would have said sell LUCENT back on July 16 of this year and they would still be saying sit on your money until this month is over.

Right now, with sentiment the way it is, even if LUCENT announced on October 26 before the market opened that they have beaten the Street by 3 cents....well, I'm betting it will probably be another sell on the news day, even if the stock is still down.
