I'll tell you, all this delaying is becoming something of a problem for everyone at this time. Recently Microsoft announced it was making some changes to it's professional certifications. Mainly, trainers would need to (finally) become MCSE's by the end of 2000. Also, that the MCSE track for NT 4 would be good until the end of 2001. So that means all MCSEs need to take the Windows2000 classes within the next 2 years. Every time they delay the product, it lessens the window (pardon the pun here) for current MCSEs to upgrade their status. While you think 2 years is long enough, by that time we'll have Windows 2002 beta build 301,049 to worry about :) By the way, originally, Microsoft wasn't going to include an upgrade path for current networking professionals. After leaking their intentions through a 3rd party and witnessing the "near riot" that ensued, Microsoft backed off their original idea and is now developing an upgrade path for current NT 4 MCSEs to become Win2000 certified. Still at this time, there has been no outline as to what that will entail. "IF" Microsoft can get the product out the door by Q1 next year, I can't see the new classes starting any time before end of Q2 at best (May or early June?). They will still need some months to edit course materials to match the final feature set of their new OS. They do have some "beta" courseware available now to MCTs but even that material doesn't match their current product build in some cases. As it stands now, their current NT 4.0 course materials don't reflect the latest OS patches....I don't expect this coming new year to be much fun :) Just as an FYI, Novell's Education arm is not much better at releasing course material either but at least I have email addresses and phone numbers for those who are developing courses at Novell. Microsoft can care less..... oh well. Sorry for the vent :) Peter J Strifas
