Gene, the advantages are executives cash in their generous stock options. Wall St makes $. The government likes it because of the inflow of capital gains reduces the deficit and the taxpayers feel good and the wealth effect stimulates the economy in the short run by boosting consumption at the expense of savings and excesses in debt. We are eating our seed corn we will suffer in the future. Yes, tough love delayed is not tough love denied- the bust will be exacerbated by the stalling tactics. History shows that the magnitude of the bust correlates to the excesses during the boom. Mike
