Very weird--- I stuck the restore CD in the CDROM and then decided I better call Astragate. If I'm not mistaken I think the menu from the CD appeared on the screen... should have had a lightbulb go off in my brain, but instead I took the CD out and called Astragate. The guy told me that what he did could in no way have caused the problem and to call emachines. Then, I rebooted and the computer which did a scandisk and when I put a CD in the drive it worked. When I checked My Computer it showed the drive was there. Any explanations for this? Hope it doesn't happen again. The CD player worked yesterday after the guy had me write the DOS changes....what could have caused the computer to not see the CD drive?
