Sometimes we forget there are two sides to everything.<g> The seniors need higher CPI because, if I remember correctly, the social security benefits are based on the core component of the CPI. And the government recently (in the last 2 years or so) massaged the CPI so it would be more "representative" of actual costs. But the restructure was to the detriment of the seniors, (naturally).

They also are more heavily invested in bonds so a 6.5% handle on the long bond will help offset any higher prices they are now paying for gasoline or food.
