Time Warner Telecom A Buy Target? Co Not Relying On It

By Tom Locke

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo. (Dow Jones)--In a world of consolidating telecommunications
companies, Time Warner Telecom Inc. (TWTC) may look attractive to some investors because of its potential for being acquired.
F. Drake Johnstone, telecommunications and technology analyst with Davenport & Co., agrees the
company can survive on its own. But he also sees it as a potential acquisition target, at a price of about $40
a share. That compares with a closing price Thursday of 22 1/2. Shares recently traded at 22 1/8, down
3/8, or 1.7%, on volume of 59,500 shares. Average daily volume is 314,060 shares.

Johnstone named several potential buyers from the telecom industry: U S West Inc. (USW) and Qwest
Communications International Inc. (QWST), which plan to merge; SBC Communications Inc. (SBC); and
Deutsche Telekom AG (DT). >>>>>>>>>
