Next best thing to Brooklyn Bridge...

I wonder if Greenspan did the right thing by telling everyone not to be worried about Y2K. It's almost like the Fire Marshall coming into a movie theater and telling everyone not to worry. At least, some people will exit the theater. This would be acceptable in a movie theater, but in a market, losing buyers at the margin can result in result in a significant drop.

Haim,

You are one of the smartest guys on this thread. I don't understand your righteous indignation. Nobody is making these idiots spend their money on IPO's any more than on lottery tickets. We have a country which is nearly devoid of character. Nobody understands what it is to work anymore. Believe me, I've tried to find decent employees for two decades now. There are very, very few out there. Everyone is looking for the get rich quick schemes (hence the success of Wade Cook and Harvey Houtkin). When you short some internet stock and ride it down a few points on the back of some idiot (could have been me) do you have any problem sleeping at night? I doubt it. This is a man's game... if they can't stand the heat they should get out of the kitchen.

You want to see unfettered capitalism work? Go to Chinatown in NYC. Go to Hong Kong. It works. It really does. Spare me from a government who feels they must protect me from myself. In fact, if you can find me a single thing that government does well, I'd like to know about it (with the possible exception of the military).

Matt
