John,

OT re GSTRF

I agree that they are more likely to succeed than some of their competitors but I remain sceptical until proven otherwise.

Incidentally I work in the aerospace industry - a few years ago we were actually looking at the bus used by Iridium for other purposes and I saw a prototype.

I took a quick look at the projected numbers for GSTRF and can match the ~$500M revenue prediction in the first year if you assume a linear ramp up of subscribers to 1M (note not 600K), 160 mins per month per subscriber and $0.47/minute revenue.

However I can not match up the numbers for the subsequent year unless either:

a) the revenue/minute increases
or
b) the no. of subscribers ramps up to the 3M number quoted in 6 months or less and then saturates at $3M for the remaining 6 months.

If you want to copy my comments over there feel free but I really don't want to get into a discussion over it.

P.S. If you want a legup on what is happening to a lot of these companies you might consider getting a subscription to Space News - they understand the technicalities a lot better than NYT,WSJ etc :-)
