<Yet, I become frustrated that they seem to be consistently overlooked because they can't be put in a box by saying they are a NVRAM company, timekeeping, microcontroller, communications, etc. company. They are ALL those things. At DS diversity is a strength.>

This is definitely not my definition of strength. I believe diversification is what is holding them down.

<Other than investor perception, do you see anything inherently wrong with their diversified product strategy?>

Yes, lack of focus. What does DS want to be when they grow up? Strong companies need a strong vision that the company can rally around. What DS has right now is mush. They are doing well because of good execution. They could do a lot better if they narrow down their focus to one area (say communications or encryption) and run with it. It will also tremendously improve their operations.
