Drew, since over 30% of the stocks are controlled by less than 5% of the holders, mostly privately held by wealthy individuals through institutions, it is no wonder that this select group, if they get together, can collude to move the market any way they please. if they short the dow at 11000 it goes down regardless of inflation (unless the small fry step up to the plate as was done in 1995 - the "little man's market"). downward movement creates downward movement until Greensperm gets back on the witness stand and says, "hey, i really didn't mean it, guys, golly ge whittakers." maybe he'll do that this weekend to give the markets support.
