(OT) Sox manager Jumy Williams has done a terrific job of managing this year but he's got one hole in his managerial bucket that hurts; late in a game, with the Sox needing a run to tie and a man on second with no outs he simply refuses to sacrifice the man over to third with a bunt. Everytime Jimy does this my friend the Bookmaker calls and we lament to each other. It happened again last night when the first Sox hitter doubled. Up came Make Stanley and of course he was hitting away. He got hit by a pitch and then the managerial maneuvering began between Joe Torre and Jimy
Williams. When it was over most of the Sox bench was out of the game and the two key matchups had Butch Huskey and Damon Buford at bat. Not the two you'd choose. As one wag put it "If Jimy was involved in a chess match last night, his opponent was Bobby Fisher." The Sox needed a split in New York, they had a chance to take two, they came away down two. Gotta win four out of the next five. It's gonna be tough. (Lee)
