Paper,

IBM is up because Lou G. doesn't care how much shareholder money he wastes buying back shares at highly speculative prices. Nor does he care how much he overleverages the balance sheet to do it. As long as the price stays up while he's selling his exercised options the future will someone else's problem.

HWP was up because the new chief is a Lou G wannabe.

MU is up because it's an overhyped commodity business that momentum guys love and everyone else hates...making it vulnerable to rigging, ramping, short covering etc...

Then again I hated all three at 2/3rds of these prices. (g)

PC, the fact that these stocks were up today (along with other high-flying tech stocks which were only slightly down) just shows that there is still a lot of complacency among investors and that they will not heed the warning signals. This is a normal reaction since we have been in such a long bull market where stocks always come back. To believe the opposite is almost impossible for most of these people to comprehend. They will go straight to the slaughterhouse with a big smile on their face! Imagine, today investors were selling high risk stocks such as Utilities (where they still pay dividends) to buy rock solid stocks such as MU,LRCX,RMBS,JNPR etc.! This isn't even gambling, it's lunacy! These arrogant idiots deserve all the pain that is coming their way! These POS stocks will be the last to fall, but the wait will be worth it for their stock prices should reflect the IQs of those who bought them.
BTW this is just phase 1 in the bear market IMHO, Panic hasn't even moved in yet.
