I'm happy you think you understand what I've said. Consider this, the only reason you were able to say that "what I am trying to say is we should all be individuals" is because you contemplated the two paragraphs that led up to it. If I had said, "we should all just be individuals" you would not have gotten my meaning; rather, you would have gotten your meaning. This is because we all do not share a common meaning of words. You might have thought I meant any of the following, "accept both liberals and conservatives for who they are", or "reject collectivism," or "screw everybody". So this is why I dared write two paragraphs (and also becuase I type fast). I didn't mean to be so mean. Also, you're right, I often get long-winded.
