I kind of agree with Ron. We are ahead in internet technology. Japan might be ahead of internet application in games field, though.

Actually, I think the sociological consequences of what the information age means to the political environment in many countries is what will continue to place us in the productivity lead.

There are so many nations out there who have tremendous ecnonomic potential, yet lack the political freedoms required to implement a true de-centralized Ecommerce based economy.

But they have little choice except to make this choice. If they don't then anyone with internet access will be able to access US products and quite likely be able to purchase them for less than they could via their traditional monopolist distribution channels.

And it will be almost impossible to constrain the demands of their population to participate in an ecommerce based global marketplace.

Of course, they could always decided to launch a global conflagration and condemn the world to internation conflict. But that would only delay the inevitable.

As for the game consols, you may be correct. We'll have to see how the Dreamcast sales progress. I'm a very big believer in set-top box technology as the next preferred method of internet interaction.

Regards,

Ron
