Agree with the "showbiz-centric" and "West-centric" strictures, although I will repeat that IMO most of the suggestions so far have been "American-Brit-centric" rather than "West-centric" (that is, even narrower than you suggest).

Let's not be so provincial, folks.

And let's not confuse "celebrity" with "influence." The "most influential" people are those who have changed people's lives in some way, who have changed the way we look at things, or do things. Tom Hanks, Julie Andrews, et al. certainly do not qualify in this category, while some people whose actual names may not be universally recognizable do qualify.
