Paul,

Given the circumstances, I doubt Intel's behavior was particularly egregious. Pushing the limits of the law goes on daily, by many companies. Certainly, whatever Intel may have done along those lines is a fraction of what Microsoft has done. But our economy cannot continue its present terrific performance if we permit too much of its activity to be determined by non-economic factors.

In the long run, Intel is better off if it focuses its energy on producing great products at market prices instead of being tempted by the easier path of producing adequate products and manipulating the market to achieve sales.

Intel is an excellent company with excellent products - I think it has strayed a bit recently, but have no doubt it will recover.

But if you think about it a bit, given the recent behavior of the motherboard industry, I think you'll come to the conclusion that there must be a few bad apples at Intel sending the wrong message to those companies.
