I think I'd like that. 4. I don't know that many priests. The several with whom I'm acquainted are intelligent, delightful and infectiously "good." The pastor of the church I attend seems a pompous a-hole but, I think, not lacking in piety. Almost certainly there are priests who are not pious -- they are pitiable -- as are any so miscast in their life's role. 5.Please explain for me the difference between "believer" and "true believer." FWIW, my view (which I think you will find consistent with previous posts), is that there are answers to questions I have little hope of forming. I BELIEVE in a sort of "hopeful humility." I find that, for me, the familiar confines of the Catholic Church are comforting. Not much of a dogma guy but intellectual conflicts are not much of a bother. Kind of Strangelovian, really -- How to stop worrying and love the mystery. It's a beautiful thing! You and nihil and anyone else can decide what your own beautiful thing is, just don't throw stink bombs at mine -- I don't have that "other cheek" thing down. I could care less if you are un-Christian. I take notice when you are anti-Christian. 6. You "love nihil" (I suspect but certainly don't know) because he has a certain bravado (false, IMO) when it comes to poking and kicking at things that scare you so. Please re-read this carefully before slamming your fist down on the Fool Button. Your hero, it seems to me, finds something "alien" about religious belief -- an activity closely associated with humans. 7. What's your problem? I insulted nihil deliberately and directly. It was not meant to be "nice." 8. And as for you? I wish I knew a way to mend fences with you. Doesn't seem likely.
