LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A major earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 on the open-ended Richter scale rocked southern California early Saturday morning, knocking out power to parts of Los Angeles, more than 100 miles from the epicenter.

It wasn't too bad here. It lasted 30 seconds or so, but was only a rolling motion. When you don't have the hard jolt but lasting that long, you know that it was pretty far away and big. We lost power and a little water spilled from the jacuzzi. Jackson slept through it.
