Hmmm. The clogging first occurred in the pump of the old washing machine. We used to take off the back, remove the pump, and I'd spend maybe a half hour pulling out fibers with a long tweezer. We got a new ultra powerful washer last year, I was hoping that would solve the problem, but the drain started backing up, again, even after I quit washing the cotton rugs, the drain would still back up if we did a lot of washer loads, I think it might have been tree roots or something. Not our house. The laundry room was on the concrete slab, so I'd just mop up the water.

Now it is our house, and I am afraid to try it.
