so poignant Graystone

Body Remember

Body, remember not only how much you were loved
not only the beds you lay on.
but also those desires glowing openly
in eyes that looked at you,
trembling for you in voices-
only some chance obstacle frustrated them.
Now that it's all finally in the past,
it seems almost as if you gave yourself
to those desires too-how they glowed,
remember, in eyes that looked at you,
remember, body, how they trembled for you in those voices.

This Rose
of
Darkest Gray

A Sonnet for Darling, With All My Love.

Imagination paints, a view of you asleep,
So clear that I can lightly kiss your face.
A flood of awe engulfs me and I begin to weep
Love gathers up my tears in her embrace.
On the edge of morning, darkness full of light
A sword of red is drawn by coming dawn.
The cape of starry skies, thrown back by night
Reveals the flower that my tears fall upon.
Darling I will whisper, hoping you'll awake,
"Without you there's no light, I cannot see.
Dark of night, day of light, both I will forsake
To stand and gaze at you eternally."
..The Sun and Moon are backgrounds, the frame of night and day
..Both are just pale shadows of this rose of darkest gray,
