ClaubB: I agree. Y2K will be at the least, a self-fulfilling prophecy. I expect monies to come out of equities at home and abroad. I expect some US equity monies to go into US Treasuries and monies from offshore to cascade into US Treasuries as well as "enough" investors take defensive measures as "just in case" planning for Y2K!

This will contribute to a further decline in US equities and lead to a bond rally forcing rates down. This fundamental hypothesis seems likely to me. My technicals have been signaling equities and bonds will make these moves before the end of the year for some time.

I suspect the hindsight analysis of the "talking heads" will assign an event as the catalyst after the fact, as usual! Then we will all know why...<gg>
