<<I find it odd that so many here assume Jesus Christ is the common ground for all these discussions of religion in public institutions. Do you really believe that?>>

Yes I do, but it must also be seen from the standpoint (as far as I'm concerned) that I don't even know any Muslims where I live or have ever lived leading me to believe that the majority of those concerned about religion as far as its degradation are "believers" and "true believers" in or of Chistianity.

As a matter of fact, I've only met one Muslim (that told me as much on another thread) on SI.

Of course if I'm wrong than I challenge those whom I've assumed incorrectly to be Christians to speak up. We'll just take a poll.

I really don't see what the big deal is. I don't figure most kids are gonna care. Its only the adults that care, and I'd guess most of them don't even remember the daily rituals of school attendance. So why all the fuss? Because a handful (minority) want to make a big deal of it. And the majority has to put up with it (although I'm not so sure the majority of americans are Christians. More than likely they're simply "believers".)

For pity sakes, the first two minutes of a class day get devoted to a prayer and a pledge, and this country has spent millions of dollars on court battles and regulation most people do not directly benefit from.

It would seem some people have nothing better to do with their lives.
